2023 year end report

2023 is in the rear view mirror, and while our world appears to be heading in a dangerous direction, I am making an effort to keep my world smaller and contained during this period of generational crisis.

My photography journey is going well, I’m constantly learning and exploring new elements of the trade.

Commercially things are moving slower than I would like, patience again is proving to be the biggest challenge.

There were many paid firsts this year. Event and Real Estate photography were two. I enjoyed both and would be very happy to be doing more. I quoted on a handful of opportunities this year but gaining momentum was a challenge. I’m comfortable with my rates and true to myself presentation but I am not closing. I don’t plan to change much in my system except being more selective about the quality of business I pursue. I’m hoping to improve my closing track record this year.

Documentary, Fine Art and Conceptual photography are new niches that I am very interested in and have begun exploring in more detail.

I have also decided to network a little with local industry established pros for some direction and perspective.

I signed up for a portfolio review with some of them to get a fair assessment of where I sit.

I plan to keep chipping away in pursuit of a full time creative life.

The possibilities for success are in reach but not without all in full commitment.
